Canada’s unemployment rate increases by 5.4% in June 2023, even with 60,000 new job opportunities that were added in the past month. As the labour force grows rapidly, many Canadians are continuing to face unemployment as employers struggle to find enough jobs for employees.
With the increase of workers coming to Canada, the unemployment rate has increased greatly as more workers mean fewer opportunities for each and every one of them. The recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic still leaves a lingering effect as many industries are experiencing a decline in recovery leading to unemployment.
The economy adding 60,000 jobs in June is encouraging to Canadian citizens as it motions the workforce is expanding and promises an increase in long term economic activity. Construction, Professional services, and Healthcare, were the majority of industries that had new jobs added to them. After the COVID-19 Pandemic, more remote opportunities were also introduced, providing work for those who preferred to do it from home.
The Canadian governments future plans to aid businesses and individuals in the labour market include finding employees in key sectors as well as workplace inclusion for persons with disabilities. Furthermore, creating and introducing jobs that allow opportunity for all Canadians in new industries.
