Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie calls for Toronto City Council to join the Ontario’s Big City Mayors’ campaign to “Solve the Crisis”

ஒன்றாரியோ மாகாண அரசாங்கம்உடனடியாக நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டிய வகையில் ‘நெருக்கடிகளை தீர்ப்பதற்கான’ ஒன்றாரியோவின் பெரிய நகரங்களின் மேயர்களின் இயக்கத்தில் ரொறன்ரோ நகரசபையும் இணைந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும் என இணைந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும் என ரொறன்ரோ நகர சபை கூட்டத்தில் மேயர் ஒலிவியா சோவின் ஆதரவுடன் துணை மேயர் ஜெனிபர் மெக்கெல்வி ஒரு பிரேரணையை முன்வைத்துள்ளார்

ஒன்றாரியோவின் பெரிய நகரங்களின் மேயர்கள் அமைப்பினால் தொடங்கப்பட்ட “நெருக்கடியைத் தீர்ப்பது” பிரச்சாரமானது, 24/7 மனநலம் மற்றும் போதைப்பொருள் பயன்பாட்டு நெருக்கடி மையங்களை நிறுவவும், சிகிச்சை திறனை அதிகரிக்கவும், முழு அளவிலான மனநல ஆதரவுகளை நிவர்த்தி செய்ய அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு அமைச்சர் மற்றும் அமைச்சகத்தையும் நியமிக்கவும் மாகாண அரசாங்கத்தை கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறது. வீட்டு தேவைகள், மற்றும் வீடற்ற தன்மையை சுகாதார முன்னுரிமையாக ஆக்குங்கள். மேட் இன் என்னும் ஒன்ராறியோ செயல் திட்டத்தை விரைவாக உருவாக்க நகராட்சிகள், பிராந்தியங்கள் மற்றும் சமூகப் பங்காளிகளை உள்ளடக்கிய ஒரு பணிக்குழு உடனடியாகத் தாக்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்றும் பிரச்சார இயக்கம் கோருகிறது என்பது இங்கு குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

மேலும் “எங்கள் தெருக்களில் ஒரு மனிதாபிமான நெருக்கடி உள்ளது மற்றும் ஒன்ராறியோ முழுவதும் அதன் தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும் சமூகங்கள். இந்த வீடுகள் அற்ற நிலை, அடிமையாதல் மற்றும் மனநல நெருக்கடி ஆகியவற்றை எதிர்கொள்ள ஒன்றாரியோவின் பெரிய நகரங்கள் மேயர்களின் அமைப்பு எங்கள் நெருக்கடியைத் தீர்க்கும் பிரச்சாரத்தை உருவாக்கியது, மேலும் இதுவரை நாங்கள் பெற்ற நம்பமுடியாத ஆதரவிற்கு நாங்கள் நன்றியுள்ளவர்களாக இருக்கிறோம். துணை மேயர் ஜெனிஃபர் மெக்கெல்வி ரொறன்ரோ நகர சபையின் ஆதரவைப் பெறுவதற்காக இந்த பிரேரணையை முன்வைத்ததில் நான் மகிழ்ச்சியடைகிறேன், மேலும் மாகாணம் முழுவதும் உள்ள அனைத்து நகராட்சிகளையும் இதைச் செய்ய நாங்கள் ஊக்குவிக்கிறோம்” என ஒன்றாரியோவின் பெரிய நகரங்கள் மேயர்களின் அமைப்பின் தலைவரும் பர்லிங்டன் நகரமேயருமான மரியன்னே மீட் வார்டு தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

இவ்வாறிருக்க “ஒன்டாரியோவின் ஒன்றாரியோவின் பெரிய நகரங்கள் மேயர்களின் அமைப்பின் ஆதரவுக்கு மிகவும் நன்றி. இந்த நெருக்கடியானது மாகாணம் முழுவதிலும் உள்ள நமது நகரங்கள் மற்றும் நகரங்களில் பலவற்றைப் பாதித்துள்ளது, மேலும் இந்த பிரச்சாரத்தின் மூலம் நாங்கள் செயல்படுவதற்கான நேரம் இப்போது வந்துவிட்டது என்று கூற ஒரே குரலாக ஒன்றாக நிற்கிறோம். நகர சபைகளால் இந்த நெருக்கடியை மட்டும் சமாளிக்க முடியாது, எங்கள் சமூகங்களில் தேவைப்படுபவர்களுக்கு உதவ அனைத்து மட்ட அரசாங்கங்களும் முன்னேறி நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்.” என ஒன்றாரியோவின் பெரிய நகரங்கள் மேயர்களின் அமைப்பினட துணைத் தலைவரும் லண்டன் நகரத்தின் மேயருமான ஜோஷ் மோர்கன் கூறினார்.

ஒன்ராறியோ முழுவதும் உள்ள மனநலம், அடிமையாதல் மற்றும் வீடற்ற நெருக்கடியை முடிவுக்குக் கொண்டு வருவதற்கு ஆதரவாக வசிப்பவர்கள் solvethecrisis.ca ஐப் பார்வையிடவும் மற்றும் சிக்கலான மன ஆரோக்கியம் மற்றும் அடிமையாக்கப்படுதல் போன்ற சவால்களை எதிர்கொள்ளும் ஒன்றாரியோ வாழ் மக்களுக்கு ஆதரவாக உடனடி நடவடிக்கைக்கு ஆதரவு கடிதம் எழுதவும் ஊக்குவிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்.

Toronto City’s Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie is bringing forward a motion, seconded by Mayor Olivia Chow, to this Toronto City Council meeting to ask Toronto to join the advocacy of the Ontario’s Big City Mayors (OBCM) requesting the provincial government to take immediate action to solve the mental health, addiction, and homelessness crisis across the province.

The “Solve the Crisis” campaign, launched by the OBCM, asks the provincial government to establish 24/7 mental health and substance use crisis centres, increase treatment capacity, appoint a Minister and Ministry dedicated to addressing the full spectrum of mental health supports and housing needs, and make homelessness a health priority. The campaign also requests that a task force be struck immediately that includes municipalities, regions, and community partners to quickly develop a Made in Ontario Action Plan.

“Ontario’s cities have been left without adequate resources and support. Too many people are unable to access mental health and addiction supports. That’s why I’m asking Toronto City Council to urge the province to take immediate action to help us Solve the Crisis and ensure everyone can access the treatment they need and have a place to call home,” said Deputy Mayor McKelvie.

“There is a humanitarian crisis happening on our streets and its impacting communities all across Ontario. OBCM created our Solve the Crisis campaign to help address this homelessness, addiction and mental health crisis, and we are thankful for the incredible support we have received so far. I am thrilled that Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie has brought forward this motion to seek Toronto City Council’s support, and we are encouraging all municipalities across the province to do the same.” said Marianne Meed Ward, Chair of OBCM and Mayor of Burlington.
