Canada Provides Humanitarian Assistance in Response to Cyclone and Flooding in Sri Lanka

Cyclone Ditwah has caused unimaginable loss, leaving many families and communities in Sri Lanka facing devastation and uncertainty. Canada stands with those impacted and will continue to provide humanitarian aid and support to help communities recover and rebuild.

Yesterday, the Honourable Randeep Sarai, Secretary of State for International Development, announced more than $2 million in funding for humanitarian assistance to support emergency relief efforts in Sri Lanka. The funding is allocated as follows:

$1.4 million to the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide immediate access to food for affected households.
$350,000 to World Vision Canada, a member of the Humanitarian Coalition, to provide relief items and emergency shelters, along with water, sanitation and hygiene services, through the Canadian Humanitarian Assistance Fund.
$215,000 to support the Sri Lanka Red Cross’s ongoing relief operations through the Emergency Disaster Assistance Fund, which is administered by the Canadian Red Cross.

Nearly $70,000 provided through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives to deliver emergency relief.

Canada continues to monitor the situation and remains in close contact with experienced partners to assess and respond to evolving needs.

அண்மையில் இலங்கையில் அழிவுகளை ஏற்படுத்தி மக்களுக்கு பாரிய இழப்புக்களை ஏற்படுத்திய டித்வா புயல் மற்றும் வெள்ளப்பெருக்கு ஆகியவை நினைத்துப்பார்க்கமுடியாத இழப்பை ஏற்படுத்தி, இலங்கையில் பல குடும்பங்களுக்கும், சமூகங்களுக்கும் பேரழிவையும், நிச்சயமற்ற தன்மையையும் ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. கனடிய அரசாங்கம் பாதிக்கப்பட்டோருக்கு ஆதரவாக இருந்து, மனிதாபிமான உதவியைத் தொடர்ந்து வழங்கி, சமூகங்களின் மீட்சிக்கும், அவை மீளக்கட்டியெழுப்பப்படுவதற்கும் உதவியளிக்கும்.

இலங்கையில் அவசர உதவி நடவடிக்கைகளுக்கு ஆதரவாக இரண்டு மில்லியன் டொலரிலும் அதிகமான மனிதாபிமான நிதி உதவியை வழங்குவதாக கனடாவின் ராஜாங்க செயலாளர் (சர்வதேச அபிவிருத்தி) கௌரவ ரண்டீப் சறாய் (Randeep Sarai) அறிவிப்பு ஒன்றை விடுத்துள்ளார்.
அதில் பின்வரும் முறையில் நிதி பகிர்ந்தளிக்கப்படவுள்ளது.

பாதிக்கப்பட்ட குடும்பங்கள் உடனடியாக உணவைப் பெறுவதற்காக உலக உணவுத் திட்டத்திற்கு 4 மில்லியன் டொலர் வழங்கப்படுகிறது.

மனிதாபிமான கூட்டிணைவின் ஓர் உறுப்பு அமைப்பான World Vision Canada என்னும் அமைப்பிற்க்கு, கனடா மனிதாபிமான உதவி நிதியத்தின் ஊடாக, உதவிப் பொருட்கள், அவசர தங்குமிடம் ஆகியவற்றையும், நீர், தூய்மைப்படுத்தல் மற்றும் சுகாதாரம் ஆகிய சேவைகளை வழங்குவதற்காகவும் 350,000 டொலர் வழங்கப்படுகிறது.

கனேடிய செஞ்சிலுவைச் சங்கத்தால் முகாமைப்படுத்தப்படும் பேரிடர் உதவி அவசர நிதியத்தின் ஊடாக, இலங்கைச் செஞ்சிலுவைச் சங்கத்தின் தற்போதைய உதவி நடவடிக்கைகளுக்கு ஆதரவாக 215,000 டொலர் வழங்கப்படுகிறது.

அவசர உதவியை வழங்குவதற்காக, உள்ளுர் முன்முயற்சிகளுக்கான கனேடிய நிதியத்தின் ஊடாக ஏறத்தாழ 70,000 டொலர் வழங்கப்படுகிறது.

மேலும் கனடிய அரசாங்கம் நிலைமையைத் தொடர்ந்து கண்காணிப்பதுடன், மாறும் தேவைகளை ஆராய்ந்து நடவடிக்கை எடுப்பதற்காக அனுபவமுள்ள பங்காளிகளுடன் நெருக்கமான தொடர்பைப் பேணுகிறது. என்றும் இந்த அறிக்கையில் தெரிவிக்கப்பெற்றுள்ளது
