கனடிய பாராளுமன்றத்தில் லிபரல் அரசாங்கத்தைப் பலப்படுத்தும் நோக்கத்தோடு எதிர்க்கட்சிகளிலிருந்து ஆளும் கட்சிக்கு தாவும் உறுப்பினர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை அதிகரிக்கின்றது.
மத்திய என்டிபி கட்சியின் நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் லோரி இட்லௌட் மார்க் கார்னி அவர்களின் ஆளும் கட்சி அரசாங்கத்தின் பெரும்பான்மையை உருவாக்க செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை அரசாங்கத்தோடு இணைந்துள்ளார்

“லோரி இட்லௌட் லிபரல் அரசாங்கத்தோடு இணைந்து கொள்ள முடிவு செய்துள்ளதில் நாங்கள் மிகவும் ஏமாற்றமடைந்துள்ளோம்,” என்று என்டிபீ கட்சியின் இடைக்காலத் தலைவர் டேவிஸ் ஒரு அறிக்கையில்,தெரிவித்துள்ளார் அத்துடன் அவர் வாக்காளர்களிடம் “முடிவை தெரிவிக்க” வேண்டிய கடமை லோரி இட்லௌடிற்கு உள்ளது என்பதையும் வலியுறுத்தினார்.

“புதிய ஜனநாயகக் கட்சியினரின் நிலைப்பாடு நீண்டகாலமானது மற்றும் தெளிவானது. யாராவது தங்கள் வாக்காளர்களின் முடிவை நிராகரித்து வேறொரு கட்சியில் சேர விரும்பினால், அவர்கள் அந்த முடிவை தங்கள் வாக்காளர்களிடம் தெரிவிக்க வேண்டும் என்று நாங்கள் நம்புகிறோம்.” என்றும் அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.

ஒரு ஜனநாயகத்தில், பாராளுமன்றத்தில் கட்சி பிரதிநிதித்துவத்தைத் தேர்ந்தெடுப்பது போன்ற முக்கியமான ஒன்று எப்போதும் நமது தொகுதி மக்களிடம் இருக்க வேண்டும். அது இங்கே நடக்க வேண்டும் என்று நாங்கள் நம்புகிறோம்.”

முன்னதாக இட்லௌட், லிபரல் கட்சியினரால் தான் விரும்பப்படுவதாகக் கூறினார், ஆனால் தான் கட்சிக்குள் நுழையப் போவதில்லை என்றும் குறிப்பிட்டார். அவர்களுடன் சேருவதற்கான அவரது முடிவால், மார்க் கார்னி அரசாங்கத்திற்கு பெரும்பான்மைக்கு இரண்டு இடங்கள் குறைவாகவே உள்ளன, மேலும் ஏப்ரல் 13 ஆம் தேதி மூன்று இடைத்தேர்தல்கள் நடைபெற உள்ளன என்பதும் இங்கு குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

NDP MP Lori Idlout is crossing the floor to Mark Carney’s Liberals, leaving them two seats shy of forming a majority.
The Nunavut MP’s surprise decision was announced by interim NDP leader Don Davies late Tuesday night.

“We’re very disappointed that Lori Idlout has decided to join the Liberal caucus,” Davies said in a statement, calling on Idlout to “put the decision” to voters.

“The position of the New Democrats on floor crossing is longstanding and clear. We believe that when someone rejects the decision of their electors and wants to join another party, they should put that decision to their voters.”

In a democracy, something as important as the choice of party representation in Parliament must always remain with our constituents. We believe that should happen here.”

Idlout previously said she was being courted by the Liberals but indicated she would not cross the floor. Her decision to join them leaves the Carney government two seats shy of a majority, with three byelections scheduled for April 13.
