Great News for the publishers of ethnic/ multicultural and multilingual publications. The sector of the industry is serving members of the Canadian people for more than 130 years, informing mostly new Canadian Immigrants about the civic, provincial and federal affairs of their new home.

Yesterday, and after 130 years of existents and provision of services to Canadian public, a group of MPP’S, members of the Legislative Assembly of the province of Ontario, under the leadership of Deepak Anand, introduced for the second reading of bill 120, Ethnic Media and Community Media Appreciation Week Act, 2026.

The Bill is recognizing the important role the ethnic and community media play in informing and connecting communities across Ontario. In favor of the bill spoke the MPP Deepak Anand, Aris Babikian and Sharif along with MPP of the three parties of the opposition The Bill finally pass with the support of all the members and also all the parties of the Assembly. Representing the ethnic Press and Media Council during this important event were presented at the’ Queens Park ‘Assembly the president and CEO of the organization, the Vice Presidents Dimitris Vohaitis,UTHAYAN Logan Nagamany Logendralingam and a number of member publishers.
