MESSAGE FROM ‘EQUAL VOICE’ FOR THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

முன்னெப்போதையும் விட இப்போது அரசியலில் அதிகமான பெண்கள தேவைப்படுகின்றார்கள்

‘சமத்துவத்திற்கான குரல்’ அமைப்பின் சர்வதேச மகளிர் தினத்தையொட்டிய அறிக்கையில் தெரிவிப்பு

அண்மையில். உலகம் முழுவதிலும் உள்ள பல உயர்மட்ட பெண் அரசியல்வாதிகள் தங்கள் பதவிகளை ராஜினாமா செய்ததைத் தொடர்ந்து , பாலின வேறுபாடு மற்றும் பணியிடங்களில் மேலும் மாற்றங்களை கொண்டுவரும் நோக்கில் அரசியல் நிறுவனங்களுக்கான அழைப்பாக ஈக்வல் வாய்ஸ் என்னும் சமத்துவத்திற்கான குரல் அமைப்பு 2023 ஆம் ஆண்டு சர்வதேச மகளிர் தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிக்கையில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

அந்த அறிக்கையில் மேலும் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாவது:-

பாலின சமத்துவம் மற்றும் பெண்களின் உரிமைகளை முன்னேற்றுவதில் ஏற்பட்டுள்ள முன்னேற்றத்தைப் பிரதிபலிக்க சர்வதேச மகளிர் தினம் ஒரு சிறந்த வழியாகும், அதே வேளையில் பெண்களை அரசியல் பதவிக்கு போட்டியிடும் வண்ணம் ஊக்குவிப்பதிலும் நமது அரசியல் நிறுவனங்களை மேலும் நவீனமயப்படுத்துவதிலும் சிறப்பாகச் செயல்பட வேண்டும் என நாம் உறுதியெடுப்போம் ,” என்று தெரிவித்துள்ளார் கனடாவின் சமத்துவத்திற்கான அமைப்பின் நிர்வாக இயக்குனர் சி நுயென் அவர்கள்

கடந்த பெப்ரவரி 2020 இல், சமத்துவத்திற்கான குரல் அமைப்பு, பெண்கள் மற்றும் பாலின வேறுபாடுள்ள மக்கள் பணிபுரிய சிறந்த இடங்களை உருவாக்க, மத்திய , மாகாண மற்றும் உள்ளுராட்சி சட்டமன்றங்கள் எடுக்கக்கூடிய 10 பரிந்துரைகளுடன் அமைப்புரீதியான மாற்ற அறிக்கையை வெளியிட்டது. சட்டமன்றங்கள் நவீனமயமாக்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்பது ஒரு முக்கியமான விடயமாக இங்கு தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது

நோய், கர்ப்பம், கவனிப்பு இல்லாமை அல்லது பிற சூழ்நிலைகள் காரணமாக கனடாவின் ஒட்டாவா பாராளுமன்றத்திற்குச் செல்ல முடியாத அல்லது செல்லக் கூடாத நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களுக்கான கலப்பினப் பங்கேற்பு நவீனமயமாக்கலில் அடங்கும். கவனிப்புப் பொறுப்புகள் பெண்களுக்கு விகிதாசாரமாக வழங்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்பதை நாம் வலியுறுத்துகின்றோம் , கனடாவின் புள்ளிவிவரங்களின்படி, ஆண்களை விட பெண்கள் குழந்தைகளைப் பராமரிப்பதில் இரண்டு மடங்கு அதிக நேரத்தை செலவிடுகிறார்கள், அவர்கள் வீட்டிற்கு வெளியே வேலை செய்கிறார்கள் என்பதும் அடங்கும். அரசியலை ஒரு தொழிலாக எடுத்து எண்ணிப் பார்க்கின்றபோது
பற்றி சிந்திக்கும்போது இது பெண்களுக்கு அதிகளவில் தடைகளை ஏற்படுத்துகிறது.

“கடந்த பல மாதங்களாக, நியூசிலாந்து பிரதமர் ஜசிந்தா ஆர்டெர்ன், ஸ்காட்டிஷ் முதல் மந்திரி நிக்கோலா ஸ்டர்ஜன், கனடாவின் பிரிட்டிஸ் கொலம்பியா மாகாணத்தின் உயர் கல்வி அமைச்சர் மெலனி மார்க் மற்றும் ஒன்றாரியோ மாகாணத்தின் உறுப்பினர் லாரா மே போன்ற அரசியலில் பங்கு வகித்த சக்திவாய்ந்த பெண்கள் தங்கள் உயர் பதவிகளை விட்டு விலகிச் சென்றைதை நாங்கள் பார்த்திருக்கிறோம். . பெண்களை முதலில் விலகிச் செல்ல தூண்டாமல் ; பெண் அரசியல்வாதிகள் தொடர்ந்து இருக்க விரும்பும் வகையில் நமது அரசியல் நிறுவனங்கள் செயல்படுவதை உறுதிசெய்வது அவசியமாகின்றது.

கனடாவின் சமத்துவத்திற்கான குரல் அமைப்பு அரசாங்கத்தின் அனைத்து மட்டங்களிலும் அலுவலகம் வைத்திருப்பவர்கள் தங்கள் பணியிடத்தில் வெற்றிபெறத் தேவையான ஆதரவை வழங்கவும், மேலும் அரசியலில் பெண்களை திறம்பட சேர்ப்பதற்கும் தக்கவைப்பதற்கும் உகந்த அரசியல் சூழலை உருவாக்கவும் இந்த நாளில் அழைப்பு விடுக்கிறது.

அத்துடன் கனடாவின் சமத்துவதத்திற்கான குரல் அமைப்பு கனடிய பாராளுமன்றத்தில் அதிக பாலின பன்முகத்தன்மைக்காக வாதிடுவதில் பெருமிதம் கொள்கிறது, மேலும் பெண்கள் வழிநடத்துவதற்கும் பாதுகாப்பாகவும் அதிகாரம் பெறுவதற்கும் அரசியலில் இடங்களை உருவாக்குவதில் உறுதியுடன் செயற்படும் என்று உறுதியளிக்கின்றது.

March 8, 2023 (OTTAWA)—With the recent resignations from several high-profile women politicians around the world, Equal Voice is marking International Women’s Day 2023 with a renewed call for political institutions to commit to gender diversity and making the workplace more inclusive.

“International Women’s Day is a great way for us to reflect on the progress that’s been made in advancing gender equality and women’s rights, while also committing to do better in encouraging women to run for political office and make our political institutions more modern,” said Chi Nguyen, Executive Director at Equal Voice.

In February 2020, Equal Voice launched a Systemic Change Report with 10 recommendations that Federal, Provincial, and Territorial legislatures could take in order to make them better places for women and gender diverse people to work. A major finding was that legislatures need to modernize.

Modernization includes hybrid participation for MPs who cannot or should not travel to Ottawa due to illness, pregnancy, caregiving or other circumstances. Caregiving responsibilities fall disproportionately to women, and according to Statistics Canada, women spend twice as much time caring for children than men, including if they are also working outside the home. This creates added barriers for women when thinking about a career in politics.

“Over the last number of months, we’ve seen several high-profile resignations from powerful women in politics, like New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, BC Minister of Advanced Education Melanie Mark, and Ontario MPP Laura Mae Lindo. Encouraging women to run in the first place is half the battle; the rest is making sure that our political institutions are functioning in ways that make women politicians want to stay on.”

Equal Voice calls on all levels of government to provide office holders the support they need to succeed in their workplace, and to create a political environment conducive to effectively recruiting and retaining women in politics.
